What is tile adhesive and why is it used instead of cement mortar?

Tile adhesive is a specially formulated material designed to bond tiles securely to floors and walls. Compared with a conventional site-mixed cement-sand mortar, it provides more consistent bonding, better workability and greater control during tile installation.

How should a surface be prepared before applying tile adhesive?

The surface should be strong, level and free from dust, oil, grease, paint, loose particles and other contaminants. Existing tiles used for tile-on-tile installation must also be securely bonded and properly cleaned before the adhesive is applied.

What is tile-on-tile application?

Tile-on-tile application is the process of fixing new tiles directly over an existing tiled surface without removing the old tiles. The existing surface must be firmly bonded, clean and free from dust, grease, polish or loose material. BirlaNu TA1+ supports tile-on-tile applications for suitable small to medium-sized tiles.

Can the same tile adhesive be used on floors and walls?

Some tile adhesives are suitable for both floor and wall applications, while others are designed for specific surfaces. For walls, the adhesive should also offer reduced slip so that tiles remain in position after installation. BirlaNu TA1+ is designed for interior floors and walls, with wall application recommended up to 10 ft.

What does non-sag performance mean in tile adhesive?

Non-sag performance helps prevent tiles from slipping after they are placed on a wall, supporting better alignment and easier installation. BirlaNu TA1+ offers a slip-resistance result of 0.35 mm.

How much time is available to fix and adjust tiles with BirlaNu TA1+?

BirlaNu TA1+ provides an open time of approximately 25 minutes after the adhesive is spread. It also offers around 25 minutes of adjustability time, allowing the applicator to reposition and align the tiles after placement.
